Real Reasons Why Obasanjo Is Angry With Jonathan

Facts have emerged on why Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo have assumed an anti-Goodluck Jonathan stance, even as the 2015 intrigues continue to gather steam.
A source privy to a recent meeting where Obasanjo openly expressed his displeasure to some close allies on how President Jonathan has been relating with him, said it all started when:

Obasanjo indicated his intention to resign as the chairman of the Board of Trustees of PDP. The situation was allegedly handled poorly by President Jonathan and this angered Obasanjo.

According to the source, the former president had expected the president to engage him in order to seek clarification on why he was leaving the office beyond the excuses he had advanced.

Commenting on the Obasanjo/Jonathan grudge, the source said the former president was shocked when about a week after serving the notice of his intention to resign, he received a letter from Jonathan, accepting his resignation without either an attempt to persuade him against it or give personal attention to the plan.

Obasanjo was said to have described President Jonathan’s action as both insensitive and a display of poor understanding of the nuances of power.

“Baba had expected that given his place in the party and especially the role he played in the emergence of Mr Goodluck Jonathan as President, he would have prevailed on him not to go but stay back and help moderate things at the highest level in the party,” the source said.

Another source told Thisday that Jonathan just “acted naively” without knowing the implications.

The source, who gave a rundown of Jonathan’s alleged many infractions against Obasanjo, confirmed that the former president is not happy with the way the Jonathan groups were going about his re-election bid.

According to him, Obasanjo had put a lot at stake by brokering a one-term deal that is now being vehemently denied, adding that even if there was plan to seek re-election, the brazen approach is certainly counter-productive in the light of the prevailing political developments in the country.

The source recalled that apart from easing out former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State as national secretary, Bode Mustapha, as auditor-general and former Ekiti State governor, Segun Oni, as vice-chairman of the PDP, South-west zone, the PDP in Ogun State had also been taken away from Obasanjo and handed over to someone regarded as “unrepentantly anti-Obasanjo”, Mr. Buruji Kashamu.

Worthy of note, the source mentioned, was that Obasanjo didn’t take kindly, the way Jonathan took his position on the issue of insecurity, especially when the President was reported as saying he would not handle the issue of terrorism the military way, alluding to Obasanjo’s invasion of Odi and Zaki Biam.

Another instance, according to the source, was that Obasanjo sometime ago visited one of his farms in Cross River State and observed that the road to the farm was in deplorable state.

“So, Baba expressed his disappointment to the Cross River State governor on the state of the road but the man replied and said it was the President that had not approved of it being a federal road.

“Right there, Baba called the president and narrated his encounter with the governor and told the president that he had appealed to the governor to go ahead with the road and that he’ll be reimbursed by the president, to which Jonathan was said to have replied in the affirmative.

“But Baba was later shocked to hear that the president had sent for the governor and dressed him down for what he considered ‘reporting him to Baba’. So, these are some of the things that people do not know that are annoying Baba. If not for these infractions, the source said, “Baba was not and never would have been against the president because of the role he played in his emergence. It is depressing for Baba.”

ASUU begins indefinite strike over allowance

The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Monday renewed its hostility with the Federal Government as it declared an indefinite strike action. The resolution followed the body’s National Executive Committee meeting held at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago-Iwoye in Ogun State on Sunday and dragged till the early hours of Monday.

According to reports, 51 of the 53 branches of ASUU unanimously agreed to embark on the strike.
The strike with the government, The Nation learned, followed the federal government‘s failure to honour the Academic Earned Allowance (AEA) which formed a component of the 2009 Agreement government signed with the union.

Declaring the strike, ASUU chairman University of Lagos (UNILAG) chapter, Dr. Karo Ogbinaka, who addressed reporters at the university premises described the strike as a “painful yet inevitable decision.” He added that ASUU is tired of government’s dilly dallying, and cannot allowed itself to be insulted any further.

Throwing more light on the AEA, Ogbinaka said it includes allowances paid as part of excess work load responsibility allowance, and allowance for supervision of Post Graduate Programmes for lecturers, head of department (HoDs), Deans and exam officers, among others.

He added that the highest AEA is not more than N12, 500 per month, wondering why it has remained difficult for government to live up to its promises.

Forget It - There will never be a Martins or an Osaze in my Team - Keshi

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has for the umpteenth time ruled out the return of the likes of Osaze Odemwingie, Obafemi Martins, Ike Uche and Yakubu Aiyegbeni as he negotiates his crucial  World Cup qualification fixture against Malawi in September.

Speaking to some members of the sporting press on Monday at the first workout of the home-based Eagles preparing for their 2014 CHAN qualification  match against Cote d’Ivoire, Keshi rubbished claims that against the backdrop of what transpired in the Eagles attack at the just concluded Confederations Cup, he was contemplating recalling some of these players.

“I never said I will be recalling the likes of Osaze, Martins, or Ike Uche and others because of what happened in Brazil,” saying further: “We have seen them before, so why will I recall them because of what happened at the Confederations Cup in Brazil? I already have my team to prosecute my remaining matches, please let’s be focused,” Keshi said.

On his opponent in this weekend’s CHAN qualifier, he said in spite of having got the better part of  them (Cote d’Ivoire) at the  last Nations Cup, he will not be underating this set of home-based players he will be meeting because the Ivorians are a tough nut any day, irrespective of where they play.

18 Soldiers on Trial for Aiding Bosky [Boko Haram]

Eighteen  soldiers, including a  lieutenant,  on Monday appeared  before  a General  Court Martial in Jos,  Plateau State for aiding members of the  fundamentalist Islamic sect, Boko Haram,  and other insurgent groups in their  activities.

The soldiers are members of  the Joint Task Force code named Operation Restore Order in Borno State and the Special Task Force also known as Operation Safe Heaven in Plateau State.

The  JTF and STF were deployed in  the two states following the menace of  insurgent groups in the country. While the JTF is also  battling with Boko Haram members  in Adamawa,  and Yobe states,  the STF has been grasping with Fulani herdsmen who,  in the past 10 years had taken Plateau State by the jugular.

The soldiers are being tried under charges termed, “communication with the enemies, cowardly behaviour,  murder and manslaughter.”

The  General  Officer Commanding the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Ebisowei Awala,  said before  the inauguration of the five-member panel that  the soldiers were duly investigated by the military police.

Awala described   the  court martial  as  one of the instruments conferred on him by the  Armed Forces Act chapter A 20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria to address problems in the army.

He explained  that any officer who wanted to succeed in the military should be disciplined and loyal, adding that these were two “essential requirements” an officer should not lack. - Punch

Unbelieveable: Lagos Woman Kills Neighbour over sitting Bench

A 28-year-old woman Stella Gilbert is in police custody for allegedly stabbing her neighbour to death over a bench. The incident happened in the suspect's room at Ajegunle area of Lagos State on June 22.

The altercation over who should sit on the bench degenerated into a fight with Stella allegedly stabbing the deceased - identified as Stella Godwin, 27, a mother of three, in the chest. This led to the latter's death in the suspect's room.

It was gathered that Gilbert had initially poured hot water on the deceased before grabbing a kitchen knife and stabbing her to death.

The husband of the deceased, Mr. Godwin said his wife and the suspect were friends but that over time, the friendship became sour due to envy.

"Stella is our neighbor and she used to be a good friend to my wife as they bear the same name. However, for some time my family has been having issues with Stella due to envy and jealousy. The animosity degenerated into a fight on Saturday, June 22nd over a bench. A friend came to visit me and I went to get a bench outside the house to give him to sit.

"This bench belonged to our former neighbour but when he was relocating, he left it behind. Stella started abusing me to leave the bench. I warned Stella to stop insulting me; my wife came out and she too warned Stella to stop insulting me. They started quarrelling and fighting. I ran to the Ajegunle Police Station to get police because Stella poured hot water on my wife. Sadly, when I came back, I saw my wife's lifeless body in Stella's room. Stella had stabbed my wife in the chest with a kitchen knife; she also stabbed her all over her body. I was shocked and started weeping."

The suspect however said she did not intend to kill anybody.

"This is the work of the devil. I did not intend to kill her. Yes, it is true we have been quarrelling but I am shocked that she died from my hands. Mr. Godwin, his wife and his visitor overwhelmed me. Three of them came into my room and they beat me mercilessly. I had to defend myself as the beating was severe and in the process, I took a kitchen knife and waved it to scare her; they were in my room fighting me. I stabbed her in the chest and she fell and died. I did not know how she got the other wound but I did not want to kill her. You can see my body; I have bruises all over because they invaded my room and beat me. I was only defending myself. I am sad that she is dead."

A police source said the case was transferred to the Homicide Section, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba on June 27 for thorough investigation.

"We recovered three kitchen knives in the suspect's room. The deceased had multiple stab wounds on her body. The corpse was in the suspect's room because that was where the fight took place and she was killed there. We have deposited the corpse in the mortuary for autopsy," the source said.

Rigging will be difficult in 2015 – Jega

INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega

The National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mr. Atahiru Jega, has said electoral malpractices will be a near impossibility in 2015.

He said reforms in the commission were geared towards achieving this, adding that permanent voter cards would be issued to Nigerians before the end of the year.

Jega spoke during the annual dinner and awards night organised by the Olivet Baptist High School in Lagos on Sunday.

He said the commission had put in place new and advanced systems that were being used in the world.

He said, “When we came in, Nigerians were complaining about the credibility of the voter register, which is vital to ensuring the credibility of the elections. What we found in place was that the voter register had to be redone, if we are serious about having free and fair and credible elections.

“We now have a very rich biometric data base of 73.5 million which has phone numbers of Nigerians. I believe it is the best that we have in this country presently.  We were able to catch almost a million multiple registration and removed them from the data base before the 2011 elections.

“We are going to issue permanent voter cards. As I speak, we have received from the contractor over 20 million of the voter cards from contractors. By the end of this year, we will begin to introduce them.”

Jega said the cards, which were imbedded with micro chips, would only be useful to the owners.

He said, “The species of Nigerian politicians are probably the most reckless in the world, because they come with that attitude that is often mentioned – the attitude of do or die.

“So, politicians, as we saw it in 2011 will gather some people and purchase their cards and give to them to go and vote. They can still buy these card. But even if they succeed in buying these cards, in 2015, it will be useless.”

The INEC chairman however   said the new process would pose  challenges in the areas of training, public enlightenment, and attitudinal change of members of the public.

“We have spent the last one year planning vigorously. And our objective is to make the 2015 elections much better and make INEC one of the most reputable electoral bodies in the world,” he said.

Tonto Dikeh responds to NDLEA arrest threat

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh has responded to a potential arrest threat by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) by declaring that she has not received any summon to that effect.

The marijuana pictures posted on Instagram elicited a flurry of invectives from critics and fans alike of the controversial actress and according to the spokesperson of NDLEA, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyejus the agency will see to it that action is taken on the issue.

“Our attention has been drawn to the post quite frankly and I can tell you that action will be taken on it. The law is clear and NDLEA has been very clear on the issue. No one is permitted to sell, use, cultivate or encourage the use of Indian hemp in Nigeria. The substance is one of the banned narcotics in the country.

“NDLEA Act Section 14 (b) states that any person who conspires with, aids, abets, counsels, attempts to commit or is an accessory to any act or offence referred to in this act shall be guilty of an offence under this act and liable on conviction to be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not less than 15 years and not exceeding 25 years.”

Meanwhile the actress has launched a damage control campaign by stating through her publicist that the picture posted on Instagram is a misconception.

“As much as I would like to ignore the current issue on hemp, I think I owe well-meaning people some clarification. It is so easy the misconception that can come from a picture- the genius of technology. If you cannot find me holding a wrap of marijuana then you may want to slow down on your assumptions. We shouldn’t use our platforms to spread half-truths.

“A fan wrote those words with herbs on my birthday on Instagram, and I replied: “Thank you #teampoko”. Now how does someone else’s action become my crime? If I said those words (‘Mi smoke gaja mi smoke weed while my hatez smoke ma gossip’) I will stand by them but I didn’t, and just because it is convenient for people to believe the lies still doesn’t make it the truth. The whole thing is falsified by people who just love to have fun at other’s expense.

“Let’s put some thought to some of the things we write. Don’t do cut-and-paste. The original pictures are there to see; but no! That is too boring to be the truth. We want the truth to be nasty and spicy for our enjoyment, even if it is a pack of lies. Visit my Instagram page and see if the original picture is the same as the ones being circulated”, she said.

2 Pakistani Girls Shot Dead For Dancing In The Rain

Two teenage sisters have been murdered in Pakistan after they were accused of tarnishing their family's name by making a video of themselves dancing in the rain.

The girls, aged 15 and 16, are seen running around in traditional dress with two other younger children outside their bungalow in the town of Chilas, in the northern region of Gilgit.

The sisters, named as Noor Basra and Noor Sheza, appear to break into dance and one even flashes a smile at the camera.

However, when the footage was circulated via mobile phones, it caused outrage in the conservative Pakistani town.

Last Sunday the girls were shot alongside their mother in their home by five gunmen.

Police are investigating whether the attack was arranged by the girls' step-brother, named as Khutore, who allegedly wanted to 'restore the family's honour'.

The sisters' other brother has filed a case against Khutore and the four other alleged accomplices who are now believed to be on the run.

Neymar and Messi will be 'the bomb', says Alves

The Blaugrana right-back believes the duo playing in tandem makes for a mouth-watering prospect, and is confident both can share the limelight at Camp Nou next season

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has backed Lionel Messi and Neymar to combine to devastating effect next season by describing the duo as "the bomb".

The former Santos striker has silenced his critics in recent weeks by lighting up the Confederations Cup from which he emerged with the Golden Ball en route to winning the competition with the Selecao.

And Alves believes the 21-year-old can forge an explosive partnership with Argentina's golden boy and says both have the requisite amount of humility to succeed.

"They will be the bomb next season," he told reporters. "That is why I insisted Neymar join us so much because I'm sure he will be a very special player.

"They will have a very positive connection. Neymar is happy to play with Messi. There will no problems because there is humility with both of them."

This New Natural Testosterone Booster Has Men Everywhere Raving

It's a disturbing thought, one that usually hits after an unexpected physical challenge. Maybe you've been unable to maintain your usual workout levels, or recovery is taking a lot longer than it used to. Perhaps fixes to the house are just a bit more difficult, or you can't perform in the bedroom the way you used to.

What's most startling about this realization is that you don't normally "feel old" but, nevertheless, you know you don't look or feel like the man you used to be.

And the issue? You might not have enough free testosterone

A person's bloodstream contains two types of testosterone: bonded testosterone and free testosterone. Bonded testosterone attaches to molecules in the body and is mostly ineffective. However, free testosterone can enter your cells easily and plays a vital role in libido, strength, stamina, and vitality—all of which are important to men.

Over the last few years the market has been flooded with questionable options for increasing a man's free testosterone levels: useless pills, questionable supplements, and dangerous or illegal medical treatments. But now a group of researchers in Boston, Massachusetts have developed a dietary supplement that triggers the body to increase its levels of free testosterone naturally and safely.

Called Nugenix, the supplement primarily relies on an ingredient called Testofen®, which comes from the rare Fenugreek plant. Testofen® has been shown in clinical trials to boost free testosterone levels, increase sex drive, and improve libido. Adding to Nugenix's potency are additional key ingredients like zinc and vitamins B12 and B6, which have been shown to improve physical performance and strength, increase drive, and aid in recovery.

Nugenix has no harmful side effects, is manufactured in the United States under FDA Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and has been shown to deliver improvements in strength and endurance in as little as a week.

This isn't product hype delivered by a know-it-all enthusiast from the gym. According to studies held in both Irvine, California and Queensland, Australia, the results from Nugenix are nothing short of spectacular. From greater muscle definition and quicker recovery times, to increased sex drive and feelings of alertness, these users are reporting virtual transformations as a result of safely boosting their free testosterone with Nugenix.

Nugenix is the top selling men’s vitality product in GNC, outselling every other brand —many of which don’t contain the clinically substantiated amounts of Testofen® needed to see actual results.

Best of all, right now the company that manufacturers Nugenix is giving away samples of the products to qualifying customers who request them online

Incredible Isco can become Madrid's golden boy

Los Blancos announced their first major summer signing on Thursday as they paid Malaga €35 million for the talented Spain star, for whom genuine greatness awaits

Isco Alarcón - Málaga CF

COMMENT
By Ben Hayward | Spanish Football Writer

It has been a happy week for Real Madrid. Tuesday saw the announcement of coach Carlo Ancelotti following protracted negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain, Wednesday brought the Italian's polished presentation at the Santiago Bernabeu and Thursday the club's first major summer signing: Isco.

Madrid may only just be getting started in the transfer market this summer, with Isco in line to be a tasty aperitivo for the more substantial main dish to follow, with president Florentino Perez still hoping to lure Tottenham's Gareth Bale to the Spanish capital, while remaining in the hunt for Uruguay strikers Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez.

Isco, however, can go on to become the best of the lot. The Benalmadena-born attacker has enjoyed a rapid rise since moving to local club Malaga in 2011. Following substantial investment that summer, the Andalusian club moved quickly to secure the talented teenager, who was growing increasingly impatient at a lack of opportunities at Valencia, for his buy-out clause of €6 million.

The midfielder had made just seven first-team appearances for the Mestalla-based club, instead helping Valencia's B side to promotion in the Tercera Division - the fourth tier of Spanish football - in 2010-11. The following season, he became a hit in La Liga. It was an astonishing ascent.

Neymar, Iniesta & Pirlo among Golden Ball nominees

The trio are joined by Brazil star Paulinho, Uruguay forward Luis Suarez and Spain defender Sergio Ramos in the shortlist for the best player in the Confederations Cup

By Miles Chambers

Neymar - Brazil vs. Italy
Neymar - Brazil vs. Italy
Brazil star Neymar and Spain attacker Andres Iniesta are among the stars named in the six-man Golden Ball shortlist for the top player of the Confederation Cup.

Barcelona's latest signing is the only footballer to be named man of the match twice so far this tournament while his new club-mate, Iniesta, has shone as he has helped propel la Roja into Sunday's final against the Selecao.

Neymar's Brazil compatriot Paulinho has earned a place among the nominees for his excellent performances throughout June including scoring the match-winning goal late in the side's 2-1 semi-final win over Uruguay.

At the other end of the pitch, Sergio Ramos is the only nominee outside of midfield or attack and has been a constant in a back four which is yet to concede a goal in open play in the international tournament.

Andrea Pirlo is the oldest of the six nominees having been on hand to guide Italy to the last four, including grabbing a great free-kick goal on his 100th cap for the Azzurri.

Luis Suarez is another player to have scored a stunner from a dead ball situation and his three strikes in the Brazilian tournament have seen him become la Celeste's all-time top goalscorer.

Should Neymar or Paulinho win the Golden Ball then they will become the third Brazilian in a row to win the award, following in Kaka (2009) and Adriano's (2005) footsteps.

The first two winners of the individual trophy also starred for Brazil - Denilson and Ronaldinho - with former France stars Robert Pires and Thierry Henry the only non-Selecao stars to have been given the award.

The final games of the Confederations Cup take place on Sunday, with Uruguay's third-place play-off with Italy at 17:00BST followed by Brazil-Spain at 23:00BST.

NDLEA Act Section 14 (b) makes it clear that any person who conspires with, aids, abets, counsels, attempts to commit or is an accessory to any act or offence referred to in this act shall be guilty of an offence under this act and liable on conviction to be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not less than 15 years and not exceeding 25 years.

In another picture, she posted a photograph of a weed that was titled as `Happy birthday POKO'. An inscription was also added from her side that says "Mi smoke ganja, mi smoke weed, while my hatez smoke ma gossip."

However, a NDLEA spokesman, Mitchell Ofoyeju, said that the matter had been forwarded to the concerned Department of the Agency and will definitely face a probation. He said that the pictures have clearky drawn the attention and one can easily make out the fact that it is controversial as per the law.

As per the law, no individual is permitted to sell, use, cultivate, or encourage the use of Indian hemp in Nigeria. It is among the banned narcotics in the country.

High electricity bill kills man; Nigerians beyond shock

In 2011, Nigeria’s erratic power supplier, the PHCN, jacked up its tariff from N8 to N40 for each kilowatt consumed. Nigerians barely grumbled as the PHCN had its ways.

But in Sri Lanka, a man has suffered a fatal heart attack after being presented with a shocking electricity bill, a media report said Saturday.

The 61-year-old victim had protested at the Ceylon Electricity Board in Colombo Friday that his bill had suddenly spiked, the Ceylon Today newspaper said.

It said the man was told that the bill was due to a hefty tariff increase from last month and suffered a heart attack on the news, collapsing at the electricity board headquarters.

High electricity bill has shocked Sri Lanka to death

The newspaper did not give the victim’s bill amount, but said it was in line with the new 50 percent tariff increase.

The man identified as S. P. Samaradasa collapsed on a chair, the newspaper said in a front-page report headlined: “Electricity tariff claims first victim.”

“The cause of death was identified as a heart attack,” the paper added. He was dead on arrival at hospital.

Sri Lanka is one of the most expensive countries in Asia for electricity with a kilowatt hour costing up to 47 rupees ($0.37).

About two thirds of Sri Lanka’s electricity is generated using coal or oil, while the balance comes from hydropower stations which cannot be used during droughts.

The state electricity utility has said it would incur a loss of $750 million in 2013, but the tariff hike from May will bring the projected loss down to $225 million.

In Nigeria, there are moves to further increase the tariff by 60 per cent. May be then, this will shock Nigerians to life.

Kim Kardashian Seeing a Personal Trainer Daily to Shed Baby Weight

The 32-year-old reality TV star only gave birth to her first child, daughter North West less than two weeks ago, but is already on a strict diet and exercise regime.

She is reportedly seeing a personal trainer daily in a bid to shed her pregnancy weight, believed to be 60lbs, before she steps out in public.

A source close to Kim said the bootylicious beauty "wouldn't stop talking about her body in the delivery room" and kept "asking her sisters if she looked smaller and skinnier after giving birth".

The pal added: "Kim is obsessed with getting the baby weight off - and fast.

"She really believes she can lose the first 30 pounds in the first month. She wants to look good in a bikini by the end of the summer.

"She got so big. So now she wants to look as hot as possible."

Despite working with celeb trainer Tracy Anderson throughout her pregnancy, Kim is fearful she will never get back her pre-baby frame.

The insider said: "She's terrified she will never get her body back. Everyone has told her not to stress - that it's about being healthy and having a good mind-set for your baby, not about losing the weight right away.

"But her family knows that at the end of the day, Kim will do what Kim wants."

Another source claimed that Kim is also under pressure to lose the weight from rapper fella Kanye West.

It's believed he wasn't happy with Kim's pregnancy wardrobe after she was ridiculed for a series of fashion errors throughout her pregnancy, including a floral dress which left her compared to Robin Williams character Mrs Doubtfire and a black and white number which saw her mocked on the internet for looking like KILLER WHALE Shamu.

The mate said: "When Kim stacked on the weight, Kanye's vision of her maternity fashion went out the drain. He's not happy about how much weight she gained - and said it's her job to get rid of it quickly."

53-year-old woman gives birth to twins after 20 years of childlessness

It was an overwhelming joy in St Ives Hospital, Lagos when a 53-year-old woman, (names withheld) was recently delivered of two bouncing baby boys.

The woman was conceived through Invitro Fertilisation,IVF, after having struggled for over 20 years without a child.

IVF is a process by which an egg is fertilised by sperm in the body. The process involves monitoring a woman’s ovulatory process, removing ovum or ova (egg or eggs) from the woman’s ovaries
and letting the sperm fertilise them in a fluid medium in a laboratory.

The fertilised egg (zygote) is then transferred to the patient’s uterus (womb) after three to five days of being in the incubator, with the intention of
establishing a successful pregnancy.

The elated woman, who pleaded anonymity, probably for cultural reasons, described it as “20 years of tensed waiting for her marriage to produce fruits.”

The jubilant nursing mother and her husband said they were not after publicity but decided to speak to
the press in order to encourage couple who are presently facing similar challenges in their marriage, so they don’t give up, adding that it is never too late for anyone.

She admitted that she has almost giving up when it was obvious that menopause had set in, but continued to exercise her religious faith, until according to her, God directed her to St Ives Centre,
even when she was not having the required money to carry out the IVF circle.

“If one is in a marriage for two – three years, and has no child to show for it, as an African, there will be pressure, so mine was not exceptional. Though my people respected my person, there were pressures both from within and outside.

But l held on to God because I’m a strong Christian and l know He never fails. I serve a living God who is faithful despite our unfaithfulness.

“I heard about St. Ives just by chance. That was in September last year. Coincidentally, l did my Masters programme at Obafemi Awolowo University,OAU, very close to the hospital, and l never knew this place existed. It was divine and all things work together for those that love God.

“My advice to every woman wanting fruit of the womb is that they should hold on to God and l pray for them that their joy should come into manifestation soon. There is nothing impossible for God, it could be difficult with man, but certainly not with God. If He can do mine at 53, it shows that no case is concluded.

“For me, l see it as a reward of my past shame. God has given me double glory, my two boys. It is more than a miracle. And for the management of St Ives, l keep praying for them because they are not after one’s money, if they were, l couldn’t have registered.

“People used to call me Big Mummy, but God has given me a new and better name, ‘mummy twins’. l am now a fulfilled woman,” she narrated.

Her husband, who claimed to be four months older than his wife, said he knew his wife at age 12 when they were in secondary school, but time and space set them apart for separate marriages where the man was fortunate to have children unlike the woman.

Fate however reunited them to become a happy family again, having known each other for over 40 years.

He said the joy that the twins brought to the family had overridden their past apprehension; trauma and agony all through the years of his wife’s infertility, adding that she might have wept secretly on countless occasions.

“Today, all we are saying is thank you God. My wife had fasted and prayed and l believed that is why you see her looking like under sixteen now. I must confess that everybody is happy,” he said.

Reacting on the feat, Chief Medical Director of St Ives Hospital, Babatunde Okewale said the hospital’s Fertility Unit adopts a success-oriented approach towards infertility, focusing on solution for infertile couples at an affordable cost, rather than doing endless investigation and tes

Woman Pours Hot Water On 6-Year-Old Girl’s Private Part as punshment.

A 26-year old woman, Mrs. Blessing Uche, has allegedly poured hot water on a six years old girl’s private part at Aboru, Alimosho area of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria. She also slashed her face with blade.

The woman was said to have carried out the act on the girl (name withheld) living with her for allowing her baby fall off her hand.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the woman asked the girl to boil hot water which she poured fallen on her private part as punishment. And it caused severe burns on the girl.

Uche had claimed that when she returned from Iyana Ipaja, she discovered that her baby had fell and decided to punish the little girl.

A neighbour was said to have reported the matter to Esther Child Rights Foundation, ECRF, a non-governmental organization, campaigning against child abuse.

The little girl was rescued by the foundation on Saturday and taken to the Gowon Estate Police Station and had been under the care of the police station since then, while the woman was arrested and detained and would be arraigned in court any time from now.

The girl was not taken to the hospital after hot water was poured on her. Rather, she was taken to a chemist for attention.

A police source, who craved anonymity, described the act as wicked, saying that the woman would be arraigned at the Ojokoro Magistrate’s Court.

Director, ECRF, Mrs. Esther Ogwu told P.M.NEWS that when she got to the woman’s one room apartment, she was disgusted to see the girl in pains and unkempt, saying that “I wept when I saw her; it is the height of wickedness.

“It is terrible, I can’t believe somebody can do such a thing to a child, let alone the daughter of her senior sister. I cried the first day I saw the girl.”

Ogwu also blamed the parents of the girl for releasing her at such a tender age to stay with a relation, saying if she had her way, the parents should be detained to serve as deterrent to others.

She also alleged that after pouring hot water on the girl, Uche used blade to slash her face, describing the act as cruel and that such a woman should not be allowed to go free.

Ogwu stated that the woman and her husband had been begging since the incident occurred but insisted that the offence must be punishable to deter others from doing the same thing.

“We will surely charge her to court for pouring hot water on the little girl staying with her and for using razor blade to slash her face,” she said.

Terminator Reboot in June 2015 - who should replace Arnold Schwarzenegger ?

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s body-building success brought him to America and afforded him a minor bit of fame, but it was his role as the leather-jacket-wearing robot assassin in “The Terminator” that made him a superstar. Now, with a Terminator reboot film scheduled for 2015, is it time for a new muscle man to take the spotlight?

The new Terminator film, from Paramount Pictures, will be the fifth film in the long-running franchise but the first in a planned stand-alone trilogy.

The movie is scheduled for a June 26, 2015, release and will be produced by Megan Ellison of Annapurna Pictures and her brother David Ellison of Skydance Productions. Laeta Kalogridis (“Avatar,” “Shutter Island”) and Patrick Lussier (“Drive Angry”) are penning the script.

Paramount hasn’t said whether Schwarzenegger will be back (see what we did there?) to reprise the role, so Hero Complex offers up some suggestions on who might be a good replacement.

BlackBerry bringing BBM to Android and iOS this summer

BlackBerry has just announced that its hugely popular BBM messaging service is going multi-platform: it will be released for Android and iOS as a free app this summer. BBM will support iOS hardware running iOS 6 and above; the Android version will be compatible with version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and above. "It's time to bring BBM to a greater audience," CEO Thorsten Heins said in announcing the expansion, "no matter what mobile device they carry."

Though it's long been considered one of BlackBerry's strongest exclusive offerings, Heins said that his company aims to deliver a "fully featured" BBM experience on rival smartphone operating systems. "We're starting with messaging and groups, but we'll bring voice, screen share, and of course, channels later on," he said.

"BlackBerry's killer app won't be an exclusive anymore"

"Why are we doing this now? It's a statement of confidence," Heins went on. He said that BlackBerry 10's prospects are "so strong that we are confident that BBM can become an independent messaging solution." In a press release, BlackBerry notes that BBM's successful move to iOS and Android depends upon the approval of Apple and Google. Assuming things go according to plan, BBM will face no shortage of competition from WhatsApp and other messaging apps that already enjoy enormous success across mobile platforms. - TheVerge

UEFA Bans Fenerbahce And Besiktas Over Match Fixing

Fenerbahce have been banned from next season’s Champions League and Besiktas from the Europa League over match-fixing allegations, UEFA has announced.

The UEFA control and disciplinary body confirmed Fener would be banned from European for three seasons in total, with the third deferred for a probationary period of five years.

It is the Turkish giants second exclusion from Europe’s top competition after they were banned from the 2011-12 Champions League due to the match-fixing scandal.

A UEFA statement read: ‘The CDB carefully analysed the situation of both Fenerbahce and Besiktas and has pronounced the following sanctions:

‘Besiktas is not eligible to participate in the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League.

‘Fenerbahce is excluded from participating in the next three UEFA club competitions for which it would qualify, including the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League season. The ban for the third season is deferred for a probationary period of five years.’

Fener, who reached the semi-finals of the Europa League last season, finished second to Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig, one place above Besiktas.

Five Fener officials and two from Besiktas also had charges heard, but UEFA said that in relation to them ‘the CDB decided that certain additional information will be collected in order to consider in further detail the different position of each of the individuals concerned’.

UEFA confirmed earlier this month that its control and disciplinary body would hear charges following an ‘investigation into alleged match-fixing activities’.

The European governing body also today imposed a suspended one-year ban from European competition on Romanian side Steaua Bucharest, who were accused of a breach of Champions League participation regulations

UEFA said: ‘The CDB also carefully analysed the situation of FC Steaua Bucharest and, taking into account certain mitigating circumstances, the following sanction has been imposed:

‘FC Steaua Bucharest is not eligible to participate in one UEFA club competition for which the club would otherwise qualify. This sanction is deferred for a probationary period of five years.’

Fenerbahce have said they will appeal the decision, with the other two entitled to do so.

I planned to have a wife and then have children, but something happened…” 2face

Music icon, 2face Idibia has expressed how difficult it is for him to stay in touch with all his children due to his very active work schedule and for the “painful” fact that they have different mothers.

However, the newly married singer has revealed he hasn’t ruled out plans to “finish school” and wishes to obtain a Law degree.

In a recent interview published on NGTrends, Idibia said about his children:

“It’s not easy. Sometimes, it is painful, especially when you don’t get to see them as often as you would wish to because of work. Today I’m here, tomorrow, I’m there, sometimes for weeks, months; plus the fact that they have different moms… I didn’t plan for it this way, but it happened and I have accepted it, no shaking. My plan was to have a wife and then have children. Something happened along the line, but I didn’t run away from it.”

Read excerpts from the interview here:

SUI: You once told me that you would like to go back to school to study law, do you still have plans to do that?

Tuface: Yes, I want to do that. I can’t say when exactly, maybe in the next two or three years? But I’m definitely going to do that.

SUI: You’ve won virtually all the major continental and international awards for African artistes, but you haven’t won a Grammy yet. Does that bother you?

Tuface: It doesn’t bother me, but I definitely think about it. I still have some things to do. I’m not where I’m supposed to be or where I dream of being yet. So I still have lot of work to do before I cap that, even if I cap that, I would still keep on working (laughing).

SUI: When you first started out, did you honestly think you will get to this level, did you ever dream of this kind of success?

Tuface: I will say yes. Everyone wishes to take his game to the highest level, but what you don’t know is how fast or how long it would take to get there, but you definitely have that dream of getting there. So I had a dream of becoming a successful musician/ artiste. I hoped, worked and prayed for it and I’m getting there.

SUI: There has been a lot of controversy about who wrote your hit song, the evergreen ‘African Queen’. Did blackface actually write the lyrics, as some claim?

Tuface: The song was written by Innocent Idibia and Austin Amedu; Innocent Idibia is Tuface, Austin Amedu is Blackface.

SUI: So, who should get credit for the success of African Queen and did you know it was going to be monster hit at the time?

Tuface: The credit goes to… Tuface, Blackface; OJB, for production; Kennis Music, for marketing; the credit goes to all them and also the fans, especially my Nigerian fans.

SUI: Your wife, Anne, featured prominently in the video. When you were writing the song, was she at the back of your mind?(General laughter)

Tuface: There was no particular person in mind when the song was written, it was written with the general idea to show respect and love for the African woman.

SUI: Why did it take you so long to finally settle down with Anne?
Tuface: I don’t really have an answer to that question, because I don’t know. I can’t explain why I don’t have an answer to that, but somehow, by the grace of God, we are still together.

SUI: You don’t see yourself as a player?

Tuface: If I were a player, they wouldn’t have caught me like that (General laughter)

SUI: How challenging is the role of being a father to your kids?

Tuface: It’s not easy. Sometimes, it is painful, especially when you don’t get to see them as often as you would wish to because of work. Today I’m here, tomorrow, I’m there, sometimes for weeks, months; plus the fact that they have different moms… I didn’t plan for it this way, but it happened and I have accepted it,no shaking. My plan was to have a wife and then have children. Something happened along the line, butI didn’t run away from it.

SUI: But you seem happy with your career, especially as you discovered your talent early in life. Would you encourage your kids to follow in your footsteps career wise?

Tuface: Yes, definitely I will. One already asked me that. If I see that they exhibit any talent, I will definitely encourage them in that direction. I’m not the guy who will tell his son or daughter that you must study this or that. If I see that they actually have genuine talent for it, I will definitely encourage them. If it is music, I’ve been there and still there, it would even be easy for me to be their best adviser.

SUI: Do you think education has a role to play in anybody’s success?

Tuface: Success is relative, but having an education is also very important and I would encourage anybody to get an education. Although you find that in some cases, some people didn’t even have access to education but they are very successful people today. All the same, education is important; it’s a plus and a very good advantage.

SUI: How come the much anticipated Plantashun Boyz reunion never worked out as expected? Do you foresee another try at a reunion album or concert in the nearest future?

Tuface: We have decided to do something but as it is right now, we haven’t really talked about it or planned for any particular time because we are still on individual projects. But it’s definitely in our minds.

SUI: I know you like football. What clubs do you support?

Tuface: Over the years, I have changed my support for many clubs. At different times, it was Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid. So I won’t come out and say I’m a fan of any club. I don’t know, I guess I’m a fan of good football (General laughter).

SUI: You have met famous people globally, which one stands out most and why?

Tuface: O boy! I will just go for Wyclef. The guy is just too much. He has the kind of spirit I like, simple, friendly, intelligent, talented, focused, playful, down to earth, serious. He’s just my kind of person.

SUI: Which African musician would you say has had a great influence on your kind of music?

Tuface: Definitely, Fela is a big influence. Bongos Ikwue, Oliver De Coque, Hugh Masekela from South Africa, there’s plenty of them, the list is long.

SUI: At what point did you realize that your music career had finally reached that breakthrough point?

Tuface: I think it was when I won the MTV Europe Music Awards. When I got that award, it was like okay, there’s no going down anymore. I have to keep on working, keep on moving.

SUI: Despite being a superstar, you must have had some most embarrassing moments?

Tuface: Most embarrassing moments? The funny thing is, I can’t remember right now (General laughter). But I don’t like to put myself in any embarrassing situation.

SUI: You’ve mentioned in past interviews, how the name Tuface came about. The name also sounds like you have a multiple personality, a man of different parts. Was that the impression you hoped to achieve when you chose it as a stage name?

Tuface: No. I chose that as a stage name, not because of any multiple personality but because of the fact that people in public will see me on TV, read about me in the papers, hear about me on the radio and it would create an impression for them, until they get to know the real me. The TV, radio, and papers are just one side of the whole story. But when you get to know the real me, every other thing now looks like film trick. So, Tuface is an artiste – the public figure, and Tuface, the actual me.

SUI: You’re still a humble person, despite your success. Is fame sometimes a burden for you?
Tuface: Yes, it is. It takes away your privacy and freedom to do some kind of simple, basic things. Like I can’t go to Iya Christopher to sit down and eat amala, the way I dey do before (General laughter)

SUI: How much is Tuface worth today?
Tuface: I never gather, but I dey try.

SUI: Abroad it’s easy to be to tell how much a musician is worth, but in Nigeria, we don’t like giving out figures.

Tuface: We don’t want armed robbers to come visit us anywhere (General laughter).

SUI: Some people say that despite your achievements in the music industry, they don’t see you as a role model because of the many ‘baby mamas’ dramas, what’s your reaction to this?

Tuface: If they say I’m not a role model, so be it. Let them not follow my footsteps. Let’s leave it like that.

SUI: But do you see yourself as a role model?

Tuface: No, I’m not a role model. I’m just a guy that’s living his life. I’m not forcing anybody to do anything, so you if you feel you want to follow my footsteps, it’s your choice. But I’m not going to apologize for the choices I have made. I’m not going to apologize for accepting my responsibility, saying yes, it happened when it happened and I’m not going to run away from it. I didn’t tell anybody I was a role model in the first place, so, if anyone says I’m not a role model, it’s their opinion. Let them live their own clean life. Let me live my own ‘nonsense’ life.

SUI: Do you have any regrets?
Tuface: No regrets.

SUI: At your recent traditional wedding, you reportedly got car gifts (SUVs) from the governor of Akwa Ibom state…

Tuface: Well, as per the gift we got, wedding gift… Yes, we got a jeep.

SUI: Because the report in the media was that the governor gave you guys two SUVs?

Tuface: Yes, sorry, one.

SUI: Back to your lovely wife, what are the qualities that made you choose her, and finally say ‘this is the one for me’?

Tuface: Wow. I have known her for a long time and for me she has a gentle heart, a good heart and that was the major quality that attracted me to her.

SUI: When you look back at your early days to today, what are some of the things that you are most grateful for?

Tuface: I think I am most grateful to my parents for the way they brought me up and the things they taught me when i was growing up, how to respect people, how to live and let live. Those things have built my character today.

SUI: How many women have you sh___ed? (General laughter)

Tuface: Oh boy o! I did not keep a record, so I don’t actually know. If to say I know I for don dey count dey come (General laughter).

SUI: Outside music and movies you are going to get involved in, what are the other things that interest you and why?

Tuface: The funny thing is, everything, but I’ll just say real estate. Somehow you can never go wrong with real estate, man.

FG bans civil servants from taking chieftaincy titles

The Federal Government yesterday banned civil servants from taking chieftaincy titles until after their retirement. It said defaulters would be sacked from office.

The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji, made this known in a circular sent to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government.

Aji however directed that where the traditional titles were mandatory by inheritance, “due clearance must be obtained from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation” through his office.

A statement issued in Abuja by the Director (Communications) in the Office of the HOS, Mr. Tope Ajakaiye, said “it has come to the notice of government that some civil servants are in the practice of soliciting for chieftaincy titles and sundry awards, an act, which is inimical to the principles of anonymity, integrity and political neutrality which are the core values of the civil service.”

The statement reads in part, “Federal Civil Servants have been banned from accepting chieftaincy titles and other sundry awards until after their retirement or disengagement from the civil service.

“In a circular sent to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji said that it has come to the notice of government that some civil servants are in the practice of soliciting for chieftaincy titles and sundry awards, an act, which he said, is inimical to the principles of anonymity, integrity and political neutrality which are the core values of the civil service.”

with sweet and raped her.

According to a reliable source, when Sunday sensed the implication of his action, he went into hiding and later curiously resurfaced with some policemen to arrest the victim’s grandmother for smearing him on the matter.

On getting to the police station, the victim who had gone to the police station together with her grandmother identified the suspect who was subsequently arrested and handed over to the

22-year-old University Student Arrested For $48,000 Cyber Fraud

Chibuzor Akobundu with accomplices

A 22-year-old student of Imo State University, Chibuzor Akobundu, has been arrested by operatives of Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, for allegedly swindling foreign women to the tune of $48,000 through a dating website.

Speaking with journalists yesterday, while being paraded alongside two staff of a second generation bank, who allegedly facilitated the withdrawal of money via Western Union Money Transfer, the suspect in his final year in school said he adopted Devon Miles as his name and posted a photograph of an unknown American citizen as his profile on the dating site.

He confessed to have swindled five American single women within the ages of 40 and 50, in search for husbands.

He gave the name of his first victim as Antoinette. He promised to marry her and was able to dupe her of $16,000 before she suspected he was a fraudster.

Others were Jettie Simpson, who reportedly sent $5,000; Shelly Bashir, $100; Billie Klock, $13,000, in a relationship that reportedly lasted for five months, and Andrea Desena, $8,000.

“I started browsing the dating site three years ago, posing as a US citizen residing in Nigeria.

“At that time, it was a common game around my area in Ikeja. Along the line I met these ladies who were looking for husbands.

“They fell in love with me because of my profile, where I stated that I was a 49-year-old divorcee in search of a wife. I claimed to be an engineer.

“I would tell them I was stranded in Nigeria and needed some money to travel back to US and they would send the money via Western Union.

“At other times, I would tell them that my daughter was sick and that I needed money to offset her hospital bill and they would fall for the trick. I have never used charm to hypnotise any of them.

“My parents were never aware of what I was into because anytime I got a reasonable amount, I would travel to South Africa and squander the money.

“My regret is that I never used the money for anything tangible, to avoid suspicion. My mum is a teacher, while my father is a businessman and have been responsible for the payment of my school fees.”

Spokesperson for SFU, Ngozi Insitume-Agu, while explaining how Akobundu was arrested, said: “The arrest followed a petition via the Unit’s website from one Amelia Brosick, a US citizen, dated April 16, 2013, where she alleged that one Devon Miles, suspected to be a Nigerian, defrauded her to the tune of $16,439 using different tactics.

“She added that she met the suspect on a dating site in June 2012, and the suspect, under the guise of dating her for the purpose of marriage, obtained the alleged sum fraudulently through Western Union.

“Armed with the petition, Western Union was contacted and they sent a detailed spread sheet showing all the transfers in the name of the suspect.

“Following the information, the duo of Nnamdi Nwakwue Dike and Olawale Oguniran attached to Western Union in Skye Bank, Owerri and Allen Avenue, Ikeja, branches, respectively, were arrested.

“Their revealing statements led to the arrest of the serial internet fraudster, Chibuzor Akobundun also known as Devon Miles, Martin Williams and Sani Bala Ismaila. He adopted Devon as the internet name, but opened the account in the name of Martin Williams.

“He confessed that he provided the bank staff with the photocopy of his identity card so that they could withdraw the monies, while he gave them some percentage.

“The bank staff also confessed that they used Uche’s particulars to withdraw money from other persons’ accounts without his knowledge.”

However, Dike of the Owerri branch denied knowledge of what Akobundun was into. He maintained that he was only doing his job as a front-line teller staff of the bank, adding that he had never at any time paid Akobundu above the stipulated amount.

“Anytime he came to collect the money, he would answer the question given correctly, including the secret code.

“Mine is to ascertain whether the details corresponded with what was in the system at the end of which I would hand his money over to him,” Dike said.

Asked if he received any gratification from Akobundu, he said he was given tips of N1,000 or N2,000 at times, just like some other bank customers do.

Juventus buys Carlos Tevev for 10 million euros

Manchester City have agreed the sale of Carlos Tevez to Juventus for £10m - at least a third of the fee they paid for him - and with the player likely to agree personal terms, the club look likely to lose his £200,000-a-week wages.

The transfer of Tevez on a three-year deal - agreed on the second day of Manuel Pellegrini's reign as City manager - will deliver the club a base transfer fee of 9m euros (£7.6m), though the sum will reach the £10m mark with some of the add-ons Juve have agreed to, which include 1m euros (£848,000) for every year the Italians qualify for the Champions League. But it is the wages and bonuses which they must lose, as an already a summer in which they have laid out £45m on Jesus Navas and Fernandinho will become more of a drain on their resources, with a replacement striker critical after Tevez's departure. City have made an verbal enquiry in the last month about the Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski, though they face a battle in their attempts to sign him. Attempts to sign Napoli's Edison Cavani have failed.

The lack of agreement on personal terms means the deal is not complete and Tevez may not immediately fly to Turin for a medical today because of that. But he is understood to be happy with the highly incentivised package on the table and negotiations are understood to be 90 per cent complete.

Sources in Italy last night suggested that Tevez, 29, would earn 5.5m euros (£4.6m) a year in Italy with substantial bonuses based on appearances and goals, which represents a near halving of the terms which saw him brought to City from Old Trafford. Yet he has always hankered after playing in Serie A. He feels he will join a strong, young side and a club which is some ways is still bigger than City, if less well resourced.
