Real Reasons Why Obasanjo Is Angry With Jonathan

Facts have emerged on why Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo have assumed an anti-Goodluck Jonathan stance, even as the 2015 intrigues continue to gather steam.
A source privy to a recent meeting where Obasanjo openly expressed his displeasure to some close allies on how President Jonathan has been relating with him, said it all started when:

Obasanjo indicated his intention to resign as the chairman of the Board of Trustees of PDP. The situation was allegedly handled poorly by President Jonathan and this angered Obasanjo.

According to the source, the former president had expected the president to engage him in order to seek clarification on why he was leaving the office beyond the excuses he had advanced.

Commenting on the Obasanjo/Jonathan grudge, the source said the former president was shocked when about a week after serving the notice of his intention to resign, he received a letter from Jonathan, accepting his resignation without either an attempt to persuade him against it or give personal attention to the plan.

Obasanjo was said to have described President Jonathan’s action as both insensitive and a display of poor understanding of the nuances of power.

“Baba had expected that given his place in the party and especially the role he played in the emergence of Mr Goodluck Jonathan as President, he would have prevailed on him not to go but stay back and help moderate things at the highest level in the party,” the source said.

Another source told Thisday that Jonathan just “acted naively” without knowing the implications.

The source, who gave a rundown of Jonathan’s alleged many infractions against Obasanjo, confirmed that the former president is not happy with the way the Jonathan groups were going about his re-election bid.

According to him, Obasanjo had put a lot at stake by brokering a one-term deal that is now being vehemently denied, adding that even if there was plan to seek re-election, the brazen approach is certainly counter-productive in the light of the prevailing political developments in the country.

The source recalled that apart from easing out former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State as national secretary, Bode Mustapha, as auditor-general and former Ekiti State governor, Segun Oni, as vice-chairman of the PDP, South-west zone, the PDP in Ogun State had also been taken away from Obasanjo and handed over to someone regarded as “unrepentantly anti-Obasanjo”, Mr. Buruji Kashamu.

Worthy of note, the source mentioned, was that Obasanjo didn’t take kindly, the way Jonathan took his position on the issue of insecurity, especially when the President was reported as saying he would not handle the issue of terrorism the military way, alluding to Obasanjo’s invasion of Odi and Zaki Biam.

Another instance, according to the source, was that Obasanjo sometime ago visited one of his farms in Cross River State and observed that the road to the farm was in deplorable state.

“So, Baba expressed his disappointment to the Cross River State governor on the state of the road but the man replied and said it was the President that had not approved of it being a federal road.

“Right there, Baba called the president and narrated his encounter with the governor and told the president that he had appealed to the governor to go ahead with the road and that he’ll be reimbursed by the president, to which Jonathan was said to have replied in the affirmative.

“But Baba was later shocked to hear that the president had sent for the governor and dressed him down for what he considered ‘reporting him to Baba’. So, these are some of the things that people do not know that are annoying Baba. If not for these infractions, the source said, “Baba was not and never would have been against the president because of the role he played in his emergence. It is depressing for Baba.”

ASUU begins indefinite strike over allowance

The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Monday renewed its hostility with the Federal Government as it declared an indefinite strike action. The resolution followed the body’s National Executive Committee meeting held at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago-Iwoye in Ogun State on Sunday and dragged till the early hours of Monday.

According to reports, 51 of the 53 branches of ASUU unanimously agreed to embark on the strike.
The strike with the government, The Nation learned, followed the federal government‘s failure to honour the Academic Earned Allowance (AEA) which formed a component of the 2009 Agreement government signed with the union.

Declaring the strike, ASUU chairman University of Lagos (UNILAG) chapter, Dr. Karo Ogbinaka, who addressed reporters at the university premises described the strike as a “painful yet inevitable decision.” He added that ASUU is tired of government’s dilly dallying, and cannot allowed itself to be insulted any further.

Throwing more light on the AEA, Ogbinaka said it includes allowances paid as part of excess work load responsibility allowance, and allowance for supervision of Post Graduate Programmes for lecturers, head of department (HoDs), Deans and exam officers, among others.

He added that the highest AEA is not more than N12, 500 per month, wondering why it has remained difficult for government to live up to its promises.

Forget It - There will never be a Martins or an Osaze in my Team - Keshi

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has for the umpteenth time ruled out the return of the likes of Osaze Odemwingie, Obafemi Martins, Ike Uche and Yakubu Aiyegbeni as he negotiates his crucial  World Cup qualification fixture against Malawi in September.

Speaking to some members of the sporting press on Monday at the first workout of the home-based Eagles preparing for their 2014 CHAN qualification  match against Cote d’Ivoire, Keshi rubbished claims that against the backdrop of what transpired in the Eagles attack at the just concluded Confederations Cup, he was contemplating recalling some of these players.

“I never said I will be recalling the likes of Osaze, Martins, or Ike Uche and others because of what happened in Brazil,” saying further: “We have seen them before, so why will I recall them because of what happened at the Confederations Cup in Brazil? I already have my team to prosecute my remaining matches, please let’s be focused,” Keshi said.

On his opponent in this weekend’s CHAN qualifier, he said in spite of having got the better part of  them (Cote d’Ivoire) at the  last Nations Cup, he will not be underating this set of home-based players he will be meeting because the Ivorians are a tough nut any day, irrespective of where they play.

18 Soldiers on Trial for Aiding Bosky [Boko Haram]

Eighteen  soldiers, including a  lieutenant,  on Monday appeared  before  a General  Court Martial in Jos,  Plateau State for aiding members of the  fundamentalist Islamic sect, Boko Haram,  and other insurgent groups in their  activities.

The soldiers are members of  the Joint Task Force code named Operation Restore Order in Borno State and the Special Task Force also known as Operation Safe Heaven in Plateau State.

The  JTF and STF were deployed in  the two states following the menace of  insurgent groups in the country. While the JTF is also  battling with Boko Haram members  in Adamawa,  and Yobe states,  the STF has been grasping with Fulani herdsmen who,  in the past 10 years had taken Plateau State by the jugular.

The soldiers are being tried under charges termed, “communication with the enemies, cowardly behaviour,  murder and manslaughter.”

The  General  Officer Commanding the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Ebisowei Awala,  said before  the inauguration of the five-member panel that  the soldiers were duly investigated by the military police.

He explained  that any officer who wanted to succeed in the military should be disciplined and loyal, adding that these were two “essential requirements” an officer should not lack. - Punch

Unbelieveable: Lagos Woman Kills Neighbour over sitting Bench

A 28-year-old woman Stella Gilbert is in police custody for allegedly stabbing her neighbour to death over a bench. The incident happened in the suspect's room at Ajegunle area of Lagos State on June 22.

The altercation over who should sit on the bench degenerated into a fight with Stella allegedly stabbing the deceased - identified as Stella Godwin, 27, a mother of three, in the chest. This led to the latter's death in the suspect's room.

It was gathered that Gilbert had initially poured hot water on the deceased before grabbing a kitchen knife and stabbing her to death.

The husband of the deceased, Mr. Godwin said his wife and the suspect were friends but that over time, the friendship became sour due to envy.

"Stella is our neighbor and she used to be a good friend to my wife as they bear the same name. However, for some time my family has been having issues with Stella due to envy and jealousy. The animosity degenerated into a fight on Saturday, June 22nd over a bench. A friend came to visit me and I went to get a bench outside the house to give him to sit.

"This bench belonged to our former neighbour but when he was relocating, he left it behind. Stella started abusing me to leave the bench. I warned Stella to stop insulting me; my wife came out and she too warned Stella to stop insulting me. They started quarrelling and fighting. I ran to the Ajegunle Police Station to get police because Stella poured hot water on my wife. Sadly, when I came back, I saw my wife's lifeless body in Stella's room. Stella had stabbed my wife in the chest with a kitchen knife; she also stabbed her all over her body. I was shocked and started weeping."

The suspect however said she did not intend to kill anybody.

"This is the work of the devil. I did not intend to kill her. Yes, it is true we have been quarrelling but I am shocked that she died from my hands. Mr. Godwin, his wife and his visitor overwhelmed me. Three of them came into my room and they beat me mercilessly. I had to defend myself as the beating was severe and in the process, I took a kitchen knife and waved it to scare her; they were in my room fighting me. I stabbed her in the chest and she fell and died. I did not know how she got the other wound but I did not want to kill her. You can see my body; I have bruises all over because they invaded my room and beat me. I was only defending myself. I am sad that she is dead."

A police source said the case was transferred to the Homicide Section, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba on June 27 for thorough investigation.

"We recovered three kitchen knives in the suspect's room. The deceased had multiple stab wounds on her body. The corpse was in the suspect's room because that was where the fight took place and she was killed there. We have deposited the corpse in the mortuary for autopsy," the source said.

Rigging will be difficult in 2015 – Jega

INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega

The National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mr. Atahiru Jega, has said electoral malpractices will be a near impossibility in 2015.

He said reforms in the commission were geared towards achieving this, adding that permanent voter cards would be issued to Nigerians before the end of the year.

Jega spoke during the annual dinner and awards night organised by the Olivet Baptist High School in Lagos on Sunday.

He said the commission had put in place new and advanced systems that were being used in the world.

He said, “When we came in, Nigerians were complaining about the credibility of the voter register, which is vital to ensuring the credibility of the elections. What we found in place was that the voter register had to be redone, if we are serious about having free and fair and credible elections.

“We now have a very rich biometric data base of 73.5 million which has phone numbers of Nigerians. I believe it is the best that we have in this country presently.  We were able to catch almost a million multiple registration and removed them from the data base before the 2011 elections.

“We are going to issue permanent voter cards. As I speak, we have received from the contractor over 20 million of the voter cards from contractors. By the end of this year, we will begin to introduce them.”

Jega said the cards, which were imbedded with micro chips, would only be useful to the owners.

He said, “The species of Nigerian politicians are probably the most reckless in the world, because they come with that attitude that is often mentioned – the attitude of do or die.

“So, politicians, as we saw it in 2011 will gather some people and purchase their cards and give to them to go and vote. They can still buy these card. But even if they succeed in buying these cards, in 2015, it will be useless.”

The INEC chairman however   said the new process would pose  challenges in the areas of training, public enlightenment, and attitudinal change of members of the public.

“We have spent the last one year planning vigorously. And our objective is to make the 2015 elections much better and make INEC one of the most reputable electoral bodies in the world,” he said.

Tonto Dikeh responds to NDLEA arrest threat

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh has responded to a potential arrest threat by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) by declaring that she has not received any summon to that effect.

The marijuana pictures posted on Instagram elicited a flurry of invectives from critics and fans alike of the controversial actress and according to the spokesperson of NDLEA, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyejus the agency will see to it that action is taken on the issue.

“Our attention has been drawn to the post quite frankly and I can tell you that action will be taken on it. The law is clear and NDLEA has been very clear on the issue. No one is permitted to sell, use, cultivate or encourage the use of Indian hemp in Nigeria. The substance is one of the banned narcotics in the country.

“NDLEA Act Section 14 (b) states that any person who conspires with, aids, abets, counsels, attempts to commit or is an accessory to any act or offence referred to in this act shall be guilty of an offence under this act and liable on conviction to be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not less than 15 years and not exceeding 25 years.”

Meanwhile the actress has launched a damage control campaign by stating through her publicist that the picture posted on Instagram is a misconception.

“As much as I would like to ignore the current issue on hemp, I think I owe well-meaning people some clarification. It is so easy the misconception that can come from a picture- the genius of technology. If you cannot find me holding a wrap of marijuana then you may want to slow down on your assumptions. We shouldn’t use our platforms to spread half-truths.

“A fan wrote those words with herbs on my birthday on Instagram, and I replied: “Thank you #teampoko”. Now how does someone else’s action become my crime? If I said those words (‘Mi smoke gaja mi smoke weed while my hatez smoke ma gossip’) I will stand by them but I didn’t, and just because it is convenient for people to believe the lies still doesn’t make it the truth. The whole thing is falsified by people who just love to have fun at other’s expense.

“Let’s put some thought to some of the things we write. Don’t do cut-and-paste. The original pictures are there to see; but no! That is too boring to be the truth. We want the truth to be nasty and spicy for our enjoyment, even if it is a pack of lies. Visit my Instagram page and see if the original picture is the same as the ones being circulated”, she said.

2 Pakistani Girls Shot Dead For Dancing In The Rain

Two teenage sisters have been murdered in Pakistan after they were accused of tarnishing their family's name by making a video of themselves dancing in the rain.

The girls, aged 15 and 16, are seen running around in traditional dress with two other younger children outside their bungalow in the town of Chilas, in the northern region of Gilgit.

The sisters, named as Noor Basra and Noor Sheza, appear to break into dance and one even flashes a smile at the camera.

However, when the footage was circulated via mobile phones, it caused outrage in the conservative Pakistani town.

Last Sunday the girls were shot alongside their mother in their home by five gunmen.

Police are investigating whether the attack was arranged by the girls' step-brother, named as Khutore, who allegedly wanted to 'restore the family's honour'.

The sisters' other brother has filed a case against Khutore and the four other alleged accomplices who are now believed to be on the run.

BET Awards exposee, Amber Rose Bum Bum in the Open

Neymar and Messi will be 'the bomb', says Alves

The Blaugrana right-back believes the duo playing in tandem makes for a mouth-watering prospect, and is confident both can share the limelight at Camp Nou next season

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has backed Lionel Messi and Neymar to combine to devastating effect next season by describing the duo as "the bomb".

The former Santos striker has silenced his critics in recent weeks by lighting up the Confederations Cup from which he emerged with the Golden Ball en route to winning the competition with the Selecao.

And Alves believes the 21-year-old can forge an explosive partnership with Argentina's golden boy and says both have the requisite amount of humility to succeed.

"They will be the bomb next season," he told reporters. "That is why I insisted Neymar join us so much because I'm sure he will be a very special player.

"They will have a very positive connection. Neymar is happy to play with Messi. There will no problems because there is humility with both of them."

This New Natural Testosterone Booster Has Men Everywhere Raving

It's a disturbing thought, one that usually hits after an unexpected physical challenge. Maybe you've been unable to maintain your usual workout levels, or recovery is taking a lot longer than it used to. Perhaps fixes to the house are just a bit more difficult, or you can't perform in the bedroom the way you used to.

What's most startling about this realization is that you don't normally "feel old" but, nevertheless, you know you don't look or feel like the man you used to be.

And the issue? You might not have enough free testosterone

A person's bloodstream contains two types of testosterone: bonded testosterone and free testosterone. Bonded testosterone attaches to molecules in the body and is mostly ineffective. However, free testosterone can enter your cells easily and plays a vital role in libido, strength, stamina, and vitality—all of which are important to men.

Over the last few years the market has been flooded with questionable options for increasing a man's free testosterone levels: useless pills, questionable supplements, and dangerous or illegal medical treatments. But now a group of researchers in Boston, Massachusetts have developed a dietary supplement that triggers the body to increase its levels of free testosterone naturally and safely.

Called Nugenix, the supplement primarily relies on an ingredient called Testofen®, which comes from the rare Fenugreek plant. Testofen® has been shown in clinical trials to boost free testosterone levels, increase sex drive, and improve libido. Adding to Nugenix's potency are additional key ingredients like zinc and vitamins B12 and B6, which have been shown to improve physical performance and strength, increase drive, and aid in recovery.

Nugenix has no harmful side effects, is manufactured in the United States under FDA Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and has been shown to deliver improvements in strength and endurance in as little as a week.

This isn't product hype delivered by a know-it-all enthusiast from the gym. According to studies held in both Irvine, California and Queensland, Australia, the results from Nugenix are nothing short of spectacular. From greater muscle definition and quicker recovery times, to increased sex drive and feelings of alertness, these users are reporting virtual transformations as a result of safely boosting their free testosterone with Nugenix.

Nugenix is the top selling men’s vitality product in GNC, outselling every other brand —many of which don’t contain the clinically substantiated amounts of Testofen® needed to see actual results.

Best of all, right now the company that manufacturers Nugenix is giving away samples of the products to qualifying customers who request them online
